literacy     third person pov, present tense, with a tendency to mirror ( i'll happily reflect your literacy style ). my replies can get lengthy, but don't feel pressured to match or mirror! i'm okay with anything as long as you keep the thread moving.  activity     slow during the weekdays and faster on the weekends. generally, i'll prioritize in-character threads and out-of-character plotting over in-character dms. please limit ooc contact. my writer tag is #sago and i prefer public threads.  plotting     i plot with love and care, so my brainstorming can get quite long. that said, i promise to always have something to offer. i want to make things work if you're also willing. the concept of writing and exploring dynamics together is more appealing to me as opposed to securing ships or certain connections. however, if you have an idea that you think will suit jinri, you're more than welcome to let me know! i'm always open to hearing people out.  important     please refrain from copying my musings in any capacity, whether it is my character, my carrd, or my graphics. i've been a victim of creative theft one too many times, and i'd like to hopefully end it here before it happens again. please respect my boundaries and leave my creations alone! thank you.

:   (  her story  )

the mirror, jinri discovers, is her greatest enemy. it shows her things she doesn't want to see, from her droopy stomach, her crooked collarbones, to where her beauty marks sit. there's nothing more ghastly than her own reflection; she is, after all, a spitting image of her mother.jinri experiences complications of her own making. more than anything, she has the desire to be normal like other girls — beautiful, kind, serene — all things ladylike. mother teaches her just what that really means, with criticism that begins from her head and ends at her limbs. "you need to be better," jinri remembers her saying. "you have to be perfect."so, jinri tries for perfect. she aims for predictability, good-naturedness, pleasant smiles — all traits and characteristics of likeable heroines from movies and books — only to find she feels more frustrated than content, more removed from herself than whole. there's nothing beautiful about a conformist. they're all mostly paper thin, faux, made up of nothing but a copy and paste formula. it's sickening.school life isn't any better. campus is where she finds herself comparing down to the bones. to preteen jinri, nothing is worse than a group of pretty, giggling girls — they're all she'll never be and the halls are littered with them. one girl in particular stands out, however. this one, jinri recognizes, has her completely enamored.compared to jinri, she is sunshine and rainbows, with long, fairy-tale locks to match. anything she says is like law amongst their peers, which is both admirable and inspiring. much like the rest, jinri harbors no animosity towards her — instead, an intense desire to one day be her friend.( when they finally cross paths, it happens in the girl's bathroom and they are fourteen.jinri, pallid and thin, applies her lipstick with careful intricacy, smacks her lips twice, only to offer the same lipstick to the girl when she catches her watching."i like the color," jinri hears her say, "what is it?"calmly, jinri replies. "plum blossom."later, jinri tells her she can keep it. in exchange, the girl gives jinri her strawberry bon bon. )after years of being beaten down, jinri finally musters up the courage to tell her mother off.it happens on a rainy, summer evening, just on the cusp of fall. they're harvesting mint leaves from the family greenhouse when mother’s criticism starts."this is your last year. what are you doing after graduation?"jinri is unresponsive. all that can be heard is the sound of mint leaves being plucked against the background of summer rain. after a while, mother goes again. "the least you can do is find a suitor. who will marry a stupid woman?""i'm leaving." jinri’s answer is almost abrupt."where?""here.""as if.""i do good in school. i have scholarships. you don't know because i don't tell you."mother looks stunned. "and where will you be heading off to?""somewhere far away." jinri drops a bundle of mint into the woven basket by their feet. somehow, the image is everlasting, like a metaphor for something she doesn't have a name for. "so don't come looking for me. you and dad have always been better off without me anyway."in seoul, jinri discovers that she does have what it takes to become better. not by mother's standards but standards of her own, which follow an unbeaten path. she completes the last stretch of her education in the city, becoming a dietician who promises to bridge the gap between people and their perception of food. years of her own struggles eventually boil down to this: if there is work to be done by her on this plane, then it should be to raise awareness about nutritional wellness.jinri is able to do just that at a local hospital in seoul. through her work, she easily blends into the crowd of work life balance, seemingly ridding herself of ghastly oddities dating back to grade school. the relief in getting older is being able to discern right from wrong ( herself versus the world ), along with having a place of her own. for the most part, her routines are normal. she is normal. it’s only in the face of her ghastly reflection that it hits her: the apple hardly falls from the tree. even when things look up for her, jinri can't help but to stare back down.because at best, jinri is unlikable, and at worst, she is detestable. strangers, enemies, and acquaintances are more common in her life than friends are. most can't tolerate what she truly is: a woman who is anything but ladylike. by this point, jinri understands it better than anyone else — there's nothing beautiful about a nonconformist. of course, she works through the kinks in silence. she's no longer seventeen after all. in this day and age, suppressing your flaws are to be expected if you want love and validation. that is, until she runs into supermodel ivy amatyakul.when jinri gets hired on as ivy's personal dietician, they quickly become a clandestine affair laced in passion and intensity. those who aren't used to women and lovemaking in the same sentence would find them an honest eyesore.still, despite the odds, jinri follows ivy wherever she goes. this time, it's to the unassuming village of hanun.as a small town girl herself, jinri is used to the culture of wide eyes and open gossip. it almost feels like the people in hanun are no different from the people in jeju. they stare, judge, and reel back in distaste all the same. what is different, though, is the buzz surrounding a missing person's case. kim bora is gone, they say — and whoever that may be seems to be of utmost importance. either way, jinri can only hope for one thing: that this kim bora is found in one piece.

:   (  character  )

+     amicable, candid, modest, observant, sultry.
  –     elusive, distant, nonchalant, moody, peevish.

  • first impressions are commonly a miss with jinri. she's often subjected to false assumptions, being deemed as unfriendly or disinterested. the truth is she's a lot shyer than she leads on, and will only make space for those who prove their dedication in forming a bond with her.

  • at times, jinri's attention is comparable to that of a child's. something about her seems faraway, even if she's particularly good at maintaining eye contact. there's an element of daydream to the way she carries herself, which only furthers the narrative that she can be a bit odd to the regular person.

  • majority of her clothes are skimpy; it's why she attracts attention everywhere she goes. in a sense, this is jinri's way of rebelling against the norm, to be something of a nonconformist. she'll cover up once it's cold out, but otherwise, she dresses for herself and to be objectified by ivy only.

  • she is girlish and relentless. she likes to apply and reapply lipstick three times every hour. her favorite shade is a plum blossom, which ironically highlights her pale, ghastly complexion more than bring life to it.

  • there's a tendency for jinri to pick herself apart. outwardly, she appears grounded and unmoved by most trivial things. inwardly, she craves stability, and will go to great lengths in seeking it out. this manifests more in her romantic connections, where she often loses sight of herself in the name of love.

  • jinri gives as much as she takes — that is, sacrificing parts of herself and expecting something of equal value back. middle grounds don't exist in her world, and really, that's where the trouble starts.

  • codependency ru(i)ns her life. her relationships are why she blooms, though outsiders would describe them (her) as a thorn to her (their) side. either way, jinri is entirely devoted; you'll rarely see her with anyone aside from her innermost circle. they are hers as much as she is theirs.
